Minor League Rules

JACKSON LITTLE LEAGUE

2008 Minor League Rules
printable version

1) All 12 teams will make the playoffs. The top 4 will receive a 1st round bye. (5-12, 6-11, 7-10, 8-9) The rest of the playoffs will be reseeded after each round so the highest seed will play the lowest seed.

2) The listed time on the schedule is game time. All warm-up or infield/outfield practice should take place prior to game time. If the game before you is running late players should warm up away from the field. Game time will not be delayed to allow infield/outfield practice.

3) 8 players are needed to start and finish a game. If a team has 8 players at game time the game will begin. The game will not be delayed to await the arrival of a 9th player. If a team has less than 8 players there is a 10 minute grace period prior to a team forfeiting a game. If it appears you will have 9 or less players for a game, contact the Player Agent and he will call up players from the AA Minors for you. You are not allowed to bring players from the AA Minors on your own. A player called up from the AA Minors will bat last in the order and cannot pitch or catch. A forfeited game will count in the standings.

4) No inning will start after 1 hour and 45 minutes from the start of the game. The umpire will keep the official game time. The losing team must of batted at least 4 times to constitute an official game.

5) If a team has batted 4 times and is losing by 10 or more runs the game is over.

6) Stealing of 2nd base and 3rd base is unlimited. Once a team is ahead by 12 or more runs all stealing or base advancement due to wild pitches will stop.

7) There is one steal of home per inning. A steal of home is defined as advancement from 3rd to home without the batter hitting the ball or being walked/hit by pitch.

8) When the pitcher is in possession of the ball and in contact with the pitching rubber all runners will return to their bases.

9) One defensive coach is allowed in the outfield.

10) A substitute runner will be allowed when the catcher reaches base. This runner will be the last recorded out in the lineup.

11) All players will be in the batting order. If a player arrives late he will be placed at the end of the order. If a player must leave during a game his batting position will be skipped with no penalty. A team must still have at least 8 players for the game to continue.

12) A maximum of 5 runs may be scored in an inning. (Rule 2.00 Definition of Inning). The exception being the last inning where three outs must be recorded by both teams.

13) All players must play 2 of the first 4 innings and 3 of 6 innings in the field. All players must play at least 1 of the first 4 innings or 2 of 6 innings in the infield. Pitchers and catchers are defined as infielders.

PITCHING RULES:

14)  Once a pitcher has been removed as the pitcher he may not return as a pitcher and cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of the game. All managers will keep a count of all pitches thrown by his team. Maximum pitches per game: 75 maximum innings per game: 4

a) If a player pitches 61 or more pitches in a game he needs 3 calendar days of rest and a game in between his next appearance.

b) If a player pitches 41-60 pitches in a game he needs 2 calendar days of rest and a game in between his next appearance - regardless of when the next game is played.

c) If a player pitches 21-40 pitches in a game he needs 1 calendar day of rest before his next appearance.

d) If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a game no rest is required.
